Keep in mind that the people who wrote the 2nd amend had just defeated an occupying army, who felt it was their right to confiscate any and all firearms from citizens. Then consider how our government took firearms from native americans, and how that worked out for them. Our founding leaders were able to write documents which by almost every measure, have stood the test of time. The 2nd amend guarantees your right to own firearms. It doesn’t mandate you own one.
